Mowing 割草
There‘s never a sound beside the wood but one,
树林边一片寂静，除了割草的声音。
And that was my long scythe whispering to the ground
那是我的长柄镰刀在跟泥土喃喃细语
What was it whispered? I knew not well myself
它说的什么悄悄话？ 我可不知道。
Perhaps it is something about the heat of the sun,
也许在说太阳那么炙热，
Something, perhaps, about the lack of sound-
也许是说周围太安静。
And that was why it whispered and did not speak
怪不得呢 ，这些事要用悄悄话来说。
It was no dream of the gift of idle hours,
它可不指望悠闲地度过时光，
Or easy gold at the hand of fay or elf:
也不指望从仙女精灵的手里得到金银财宝。
Anything more than the truth would have seemed too weak.
除了真理，任何遐想的东西都是虚不可靠的.
To the earnest love that laid the swale in rows,
踏踏实实的爱会把洼地变成一排排的田垄.
Not without feeble-pointed spikes of flowers (Pale orchises）
田地里有花蕊微弱，垂着头的花儿（白兰花）
and scared a bright green snake.
还有受了惊的碧绿色长蛇。
The fact is the sweetest dream that labor knows.
其实啊，在地里干活懂得最甜蜜的梦是什么。
My long scythe whispered and left the hay to make.
我的镰刀低低细语，留下割好的草让太阳晒干.
The Road Not Taken
未选择的路
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth
金黄色的树林里，小路分岔为两条，
可惜只选一条，去继续我的旅程，
我独自一人，伫立良久，
眺望其中一条路，
它弯曲延伸消失在树丛里。
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
然后，我踏上另一条路，
也许这个选择更为明智，
路上草丛茂盛， 等候行人走过，
其实行人的足迹，
在两条路上的踩踏，几乎一样。
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
那天早晨，两条路上铺满落叶，
没有被人踏过的迹象，
哦，把第一条路留给下次，
然而，旅途一程接一程，

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Stopping by a Woods on a Snowy Evening
雪中黄昏留步树林边
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
我知道这是谁的树林，
他的房屋却在村庄里面，
不会看到我曾在此留步，
注视着他那白雪覆盖的树林。
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
我的小马必是满怀疑惑，
为什么停在这里，附近没有农庄，
两边是树林和冰冻的小湖，
在这一年中最昏暗的傍晚。
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
晃一下系带上的铃铛，
它在问我是否弄错。
寂静中只听到一阵微风，
吹来缓缓飘落的雪花。
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

作者简介：罗伯特 弗洛斯特 （1874-1963 ）美国最主要诗人之一。他的诗作运用谈话形式，以及田园生活内容。弗洛斯特经常写英格兰地区农村生活场景，并以此表达复杂的社会和哲理的主题。弗洛斯特四次获得普利斯诗歌奖。美国文学中被研究得最多的是弗罗斯特的诗作品。
