"Walk in China, See Chongqing through the Eyes of Overseas Chinese": 2026 Overseas Chinese Media and Leaders' Joint Visit to Southeast Chongqing to Launch Soon

The reporter learned from the event organizers that the "2026 Overseas Chinese Media and Leaders Joint Visit to Southeast Chongqing" will officially launch on the 15th of this month in Chongqing. More than 30 mainstream Chinese-language media outlets from around the world and over 10 renowned overseas Chinese leaders will gather in the mountain city and head into the Wuling Mountain area of southeast Chongqing for a multi-day joint field visit.

The event is co-hosted by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and the Chongqing Branch of China News Service. It is jointly organized by the Information Office of Wulong District People's Government, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Youyang County People's Government, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiushan County People's Government. Under the theme "Walk in China, See Chongqing through the Eyes of Overseas Chinese", the event aims to present a comprehensive picture of Chongqing's high-quality development achievements through the lens of Chinese-language media and overseas Chinese leaders, explore investment and cooperation opportunities, help Chongqing enterprises, specialty products, and Bayu culture reach the world, gather high-quality resources from home and abroad for the construction of a new, modern Chongqing, and build bridges for international exchanges and cooperation.

Chongqing is the only municipality directly under the central government in western China. The Wuling Mountain area in southeast Chongqing, dominated by the Wuling Mountains, is a region of basin-margin highlands inhabited by ethnic minorities and an important ecological barrier. The visiting delegation will travel to Wulong District, Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, and Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, with a focus on regional high-quality economic and social development, modern industrial system construction, cultural tourism with local characteristics, and rural revitalization.

It is learned that the launch ceremony will be held on the afternoon of the 15th in Chongqing. Afterwards, the delegation will travel deep into the visited areas, documenting the development stories of the Wuling Mountain area in southeast Chongqing through their writing and lenses.
